It is a great pleasure to serve as the 6th grade counselor at East Cary Middle.  This school year I am working into my 27th year as an educator and 17th year in Wake County Public Schools.   I recently relocated schools from the Holly Springs community.  I worked as a school counselor in both Holly Grove Elementary and Holly Grove Middle.  During my tenure, Holly Grove’s Comprehensive School Counseling programs became recognized by the American School Counselor Association as being RAMPED in 2009(HGES)  and 2013(HSMS).    I was able to work with my first kindergarten class at Holly Grove Elementary as one of their counselors in Holly Grove Middle School while they were in 6,7,8 grades.    I was awarded the Wake County School Counselor of the Year at the elementary school level 2009-2010 .   I earned National Board Certification in 2010.   I also was featured on the Wake’s podcast “The Role of a School Counselor”.

As  an educator for twenty six years,  I worked in all levels of education: James Sprunt Community College (3 years), Apex High School-Wake County (7 years), Rose Hill-Magnolia Elementary-Duplin County (7 years), Holly Grove Elementary-Wake County (4 years) and Holly Grove Middle-Wake County (5 years).    I enjoy swimming, biking and running. I participate in sprint triathlons during the triathlon season.   I have run City of Oaks, Virginia Beach, Run Raleigh, Diva series half marathons and Tobacco Road, Outer Banks and Marine Corp full marathons.
